  • The integrity and condition of the documents must be maintained throughout the process. To that end, the San Patricio County Elections Administration adopts the following rules of procedure.

    Submitting a request:

    All requests must be made in writing to the San Patricio County Election Manager, Sarah LaSoya.

    Cost of Each request:

    $00.10 per any printed page
    $15.00 for Early Voting Roster
    $15.00 for Election Day Roster
    $25.00 for Countywide list or Registered Voters
    $10.00 for Precinct, City, or School District Registered Voter List
    $15.00 per hour for any work done in preparing documents.

    What is a volunteer deputy registrar (VDR)?

    Volunteer Deputy Registrars are persons certified to help register voters. They are appointed by county voter registrars with helping increase voter registration in the state.

    Volunteer Deputy Registrar qualifications:

    • To be appointed a Volunteer Deputy Registrar, a person must:
      • Be at least 18 years old;
      • Be a United States citizen;
      • Not have been determined by a final judgment of court exercising probate jurisdiction to be:
        • Totally mentally incapacitated; or
        • Partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote;
      • Not have been finally convicted of a felony, or, if convicted must have:
        • Fully discharged the sentence, including any term of incarceration, parole, or supervision; OR
        • Been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disability to vote;
      • Not have been finally convicted of identity theft under Section 32.51 of the Penal Code; and
      • Be a Texas resident.

    VDR responsibilities:

    • Distributing and accepting applications
      • VDRs may distribute and accept applications from new voters in the county, new to the county voters, or currently registered voters who wish to change or correct information on their voter registration certificate (such as name or address).
    • Assisting applicants
      • VDRs may assist voters in completing their voter registration application when necessary. However, being a VDR does not certify you to help voters complete Ballot by Mail Applications.
    • Reviewing applications
      • VDRs may review applications to ensure they are complete and legible. However, VDRs do not have the authority to deem a voter unable to register to vote.

    How to become a VDR:

    • Contact our office at 361-364-6121 to schedule training.
    • Upon satisfactorily completing training and examination, if required, the voter registrar will appoint you as a volunteer deputy registrar.
    • You may not receive another person's voter registration application until you have completed the training developed or approved by the Secretary of State.

    Length of appointment:

    • You may be appointed at any time. (Training must be completed first)
    • Appointment expires on the last day of every even numbered year.
      • Volunteer Deputy Registrars appointments made during 2025 - 2026 will expire by law at the end of December 31, 2026.

    When and where are Volunteer Deputy Registrar training classes offered?

    • Volunteer Deputy Registrar Classes are offered the 3rd Tuesday of every month @ 9 AM in The Elections Office, 410 W. Market St. Sinton, Texas. Call our office at 361-364-6121 to schedule.

  • Election workers help the voting process run smoothly through tasks like checking in voters and issuing ballots. Election workers are paid and trained to work at Early Voting and Election Day polling place.

    Contact our office at 361-364-6121 if you are interested in becoming an election worker.

    Election worker eligibility:
    • You are eligible to be appointed as an election worker if you are:
    • A U.S. Citizen
    • Registered Voter of San Patricio County

    A Poll Watcher is a person appointed to observe the conduct of an election on behalf of:

    • A candidate;
    • A political party; or
    • The proponents or opponents of a measure (specific-purpose political action committees)
    Appointment:

    The elections office is not responsible for appointing poll watchers; you may choose to contact your party chair for more information.

    Qualifications:
    • A registered voter of the territory (e.g. city, school district);
    • NOT a candidate for public office;
    • NOT hold an elective public office;
    • NOT have been finally convicted of an offense in connection with conduct directly attributable to an election;
    • NOT related within the second degree of consanguinity or affinity to an election judge or clerk serving at the polling place. (A watcher may be related to the candidate the watcher is representing)
    Oath:

    Before being accepted, the poll watcher must take the following oath, administered by the presiding judge at the polling place:

    "I swear or affirm that I will not disrupt the voting process or harass voters in the discharge of my duties."

    Acceptance at the Polling Place:
    • Poll watchers must receive a certificate of appointment and present that certificate to the presiding judge.
    • Poll watchers must also complete the Texas Secretary of State's Poll Watcher Training Program and present the certificate of completion to the presiding judge
    • Poll watchers are also encouraged to attend one of the public election worker training sessions or take the Election Worker Training to learn more about the election process.
